Sarah Outen: Solo Across the Indian 2009

In Spring 2009, 23 year old Sarah Outen is taking on a very exciting, record-breaking, and ever so slightly crazy sort of challenge! Involving a small boat, some oars and over 3,100 miles of Indian Ocean, Sarah will row solo from Western  Australia to Mauritius in a bid to become the first woman, and youngest and fastest person, to make the crossing. Rowing up to 12 hours a day under a scorching sun, riding 30ft waves, battling winds and currents, sharks, capsizes and shipping traffic, it will be a test of endurance, stamina and sense of humour.

Records & tests aside, the venture is also a charitable one with proceeds going to UK charity Arthritis Care in memory of her late father, who died suddenly in 2006 after suffering for many years from rheumatoid arthritis. Natracare are proud to sponsor Sarah in her adventure and we wish her great success!

HB TV interview about Natracare Organic Baby Wipes

Teens for safe cosmetics HB TV interview about Natracare Organic Baby Wipes

Our history

The national network television program, World in Action, screened on TV in Britain in 1989, drew attention to the effect of Dioxin pollution, its major source of production, and the part it played in sanitary protection manufacture. This so appalled some women, that they chose to boycott chlorine bleached sanitary pads and tampons and to demand change. Our response was to develop the Natracare natural pads and certified organic 100% cotton tampons which today are available worldwide, offering women a quality, natural choice.

Natracare pads are made from totally chlorine-free, natural cellulose materials derived from ecologically - managed forests and are over 95% biodegradable and compostable. Natracare is first to use the new biodegradable Bioplastics that are made from starch and hypoallergenic natural and effective sugar-based absorbents, to replace commonly used, petroleum-derived synthetic materials. Natracare dares to be different, using natural materials that will compost and biodegrade instead of lingering in the environment for years on end. Because of our demanding environmental criteria and health concerns, Natracare is recognised as an ethical brand.

In order to advance a well-balanced view of all the pieces to the puzzle concerning menstrual health, we pride ourselves on embracing independent research so that women are afforded the opportunity to make informed choices about sanitary protection and personal toiletries.
